well, an excerpt from a play anyway. links to the Italian festival at the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum in Topanga where the play will be performed and info about the play below. Our neighbor David, who is in the play, asked if Cordy would be in it also. Performances are Saturday and Sunday night. We are going to go well ahead of her call times both days to enjoy the festival itself, as it has much to offer and sounds like a wonderful time!

Drake Johnston's (former Giggle Gaggle Sunday) National Jr. Olympic Cross Country championships
We had so much fun at the Jr. Olympic national meet this year with Drake being on a team. It was soooo cold, and we had a couple of snow storms when we were there, one was almost a blizzard. Growing up in New England, I ended up driving non stop as quite a few parents did not know how or want to drive in the snow. Reno rarely gets hit with storms like that, so snowplows were not around much at all.
Drake did well. He went in as one of the favorites to win the national title, we anticipated him in the top 5. However, it was not meant to be as he got really sick the day before we left. He still managed to make All American status, placing 25th. He ran with all he had to give in a snowy downpour, leading his team to a 4th place finish in the teams category.
He's took a month off from running, to let his hip heal and just rest up. I think I needed the rest as much as he, it has been exhausting juggling his school, running, auditions and my work.

Briana White (Saturday Detention Span) is in her Fall play next week. She was excited to get the female part in a play that I have a tough time remembering the name of, because its no "Peter Pan". The play is called 'David & Lisa' which I don't remember having heard about before, but it seems to have a fairly good following. Anyhow, she's got the part of Lisa.
It's her senior year and she is also on the board of directors for the school's theater program this year, the marketing director I think. And she is still active in the Mock Trial program as well.
Hey guys and gals! Brenna Farrell (Sunday Giggle Gaggle) was chosen to be a part of Ellen's Halloween costumes the show airs this monday. She will be playing the part of The Solar System! So cute. Please tune in on Monday the 26th to see her!

She trains in martial arts, Capoera, trampoline, acro, and stunts. She has earned her green belt in martial arts, her orange belt in Caporea, She has been invited to be a member of the XMA Street Team.
Calliope Taylor (former Giggle Gaggle Saturday) made a movie in 2007 with our church called "818" for the 168 Film Festival.

Mr Rio (sunday Funnies) plays piano- just finished the
Sherman Oaks Elementary School Talent Show where he was 1 of only 2 first graders selected to perform. (Over 200 kids auditioned and 30 made the show)
he played Torreador's Song' from "Carmen" by Georges Bizet in black tails.
(sunday Funnies) He has a recital at Valley college Sunday and is playing again Toreadors- and Yesterday by the Beatles- a departure from his classical piano- he's a huge Beatles fan. He'll again be in his tails.
The Beatys (biggest commuters from Colorado) have moved permanently to Los Angeles and have settled in La Crescenta! We got here on June 3rd, two days later Madisen auditioned for iCarly (Nickelodeon Show - just ask your kids) and she booked it! Madisen filmed the week of June 8th but it will probably not air until after the first of the year yes as in 2010. Madisen also has a Allstate commercial that she filmed in May, that should start running in the next two weeks (it is a school dance and a boy is breaking up with her - she is wearing a turquoise dress. The Allstate spokeperson Dennis Haysbert says "We can't help you with all your breakups...). Second week we were here Declan auditioned for a new TNT show called Hawthorne with Jada Pinkett Smith about Nurses and he booked it, so I was on set with him last week. That should air around July 28th - he is in the seventh episode. Rylie didn't get to LA until June 10th since she stayed in Denver to finish out school. Since arriving she has a few commercial auditions and a table read for a 30 min short film that she is filming the lead role the end of July. So overall it has been great confirmation that not only is this where we want to be but the kids have really shown this is where they belong.
Ian Hurd (Detention Span Saturday) gave a speech and graduated High School and with his diploma took the "Principals" award, which is the top award at the school. He as been accepted to UC Davis and will be attending in the fall. Congrats Ian! We'll miss you!

Sandro Kaiser has graduated from Village Glen High School's Pace program and will attend Occidental College in the fall. He has been invited to play his bagpipes with the Pasadena Scots Pipes and Drum band and has been practicing with them for a few weeks.
Yiming Ye (Giggle Gaggle Saturday) got silver president reward for his 5th grade.
If you are interested in seeing Olivia Haley sing at the "Battle of the Bands" event from her RockStar camp series the info is below. The 4th and 5th graders who are in the RockStar camp program will each come out and sing one song. The winner will get a signed guitar presented by Brent Michaels from Poison. Shane has also been busy volunteering around town… at the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House on March 14, 2009, he made pizza and played games with the LARMH residents. He also visited the MOTION PICTURE TELEVISION FUND on January 31, 2009, where he played bingo and made ice cream sundaes with the senior residents, and on June 13, 2009 he entertained seniors at the Hollenbeck Palms retirement home. Way to go… paying it forward Shane!

At Sami's insistence to raise money for charity this summer, Sami and Cate raised a little over $250 for Pennies for Peace this (founded by Greg Mortenson of Three Cups of Tea) by asking for change on the Venice boardwalk, selling artwork, and putting donation jars in local shops (Ground Works Coffee Company, One Life Grocery, and Dagwood's Pizza). And asking some of you for donations (thank you :)) Thank you to Elizabeth Marcovitch for her help too! We found out today that Greg Mortenson will be speaking in the area on Jan.31 and Sami will be presenting him with their check (along with some other kids) at the beginning of his presentation. What a joy to work so hard for a great cause and get to hand the money over to the person in charge! (Cate calls him "the man who walked over the mountain").

was Bar Mitzvahed August 9th, 2008. The week prior, he was serenaded by fellow cast members with the song "Happy Man Day" to the tune of Happy Birthday. He effortlessly glided through the ceremony, and in his speech, didn't hesitate to poke fun at the whole thing, making all his guest laugh. Middle Schoolers Receive National Math Competition Awards
1/10/2008
Six Viewpoint Middle Schoolers will receive national recognition for their performance in the 2007 American Mathematics Competition-8 (AMC-8) contest. Eighth Grader Anne C. ranked nationally in the 98th percentile among eighth graders and Seventh Grader Evan B. in the 99th percentile among seventh graders. Both students will receive National Awards of Distinction, the highest award given. Eighth Grader Victoria B. and Seventh Graders Evan Z. and Elliot R. will receive the second highest award, the National Honor Roll award. Sixth Grader Bradley E. will receive a National Merit Roll award for talented sixth graders. Bradley had the eighth highest score among all of the 84 Viewpoint Middle Schoolers who participated in the contest. Eighth Graders Jason F. and Peter R. won bronze medals within the Viewpoint competition
The AMC-8 is an annual competition that demonstrates student competency in middle school mathematical skills and offers problem solving experiences that are beyond many schoolsí curriculum. This year, Viewpoint students were among 146,000 sixth through eight graders who competed throughout the United States, Canada, Taiwan and Singapore and Viewpointís average scores exceeded both the state and national averages. Viewpoint's Middle School math teacher, Alan Meyer, was impressed by the preparation and focus these students gave to the competition.
The results for Viewpoints eighth grade competition were: Anne C. Gold Medal; Victoria B. Sliver Medal and Jason F. and Peter R. ñ Bronze Medals. In seventh grade the results were: Evan B. Gold Medal; Elliot R. ñ Silver Medal and Evan Z. Bronze Medal. Bradley E. was the only one who qualified for an award in Viewpoints sixth grade competition. Both Anne C. and Evan B. tied as the School's winners.
